New ‘All In One’ Service Helps Small Businesses Get Online For Less

Looking to start a new company and create a new website in 2013?  Ensure you get it right the first time urges small business expert Startups.co.uk.

Research conducted by Startups.co.uk, the UK’s largest independent support service for start-ups and small businesses, has revealed that the majority of new business owners are so unhappy with their websites that they change them within the first year of trading.

Wasting money and valuable business trading time, the survey of over 850 small business owners revealed that a staggering 73% of start-up businesses build a new website within a year and just 12% still use the same website after two years.

Revealingly, over 40% of small business owners are dissatisfied with their websites but don’t have the money or time available to design a new one. Most are also confused by their web designer’s complex and technical language.  For example, 38% do not understand the acronym ‘SEO’ (Search Engine Optimisation) and 48% do not understand ‘DNS’ (Domain Name System) although, reassuringly, over 90% of respondents do understand other terms such as domain, hosting and browser.

39% of new business owners claim to have spent large amounts of money on websites which did not meet their business needs and, in response to the research findings, Startups.co.uk has launched Small Business Websites, which promises to design, build and host quality websites at highly affordable prices.

The customer-focused, low cost, service guarantees access to knowledgeable and clear speaking web designers and is an antidote to the DIY website building services flooding the market. The packages include domain purchase, hosting, analytics, maintenance and content upload, in addition to the design and build – they do it all!

This is the second new service from Startups.co.uk to help take the hassle out of starting a small business in the UK, following the successful launch of Small Business Logos, which was designed to enable small business owners to access professionally designed logos at sensible prices.

Lucy Smith, director of Small Business Websites, said: “We were stunned by how few of our customers have websites, and, of those who do have them, many are unhappy with the quality of the websites and end up spending more money in the long run on updates or complete rebuilds.

“The research we have carried out clearly shows that websites are complex but vitally important for new businesses. Despite the hype, DIY website building services are not that easy to use unless you are technically competent and have a good eye for design, and, too often, small business owners are paying for poor quality websites that are hard to update without support.”

Matthew Walker, of Upton and Walker Gardening Services is Small Business Websites’ first customer. He comments: “The approach is easy to understand, transparent and takes the headache away for new business owners like myself.”

Small Business Websites’ all-in-one packages start from £249. First draft designs are turned around in 3-8 days (package dependent) and sites go live within a matter of weeks. For more information, visit www.smallbusinesswebsites.co.uk.
