Crewe based Wrights Food Group has launched a recruitment drive amongst local chefs who are being given the chance to transfer their culinary skills to large scale food production.
The chefs will work in Wrights development kitchens and at the sharp end of food production where they will be involved in ensuring the company’s extensive range of products continue to whet the appetites of major customers across the UK.
Wrights food production facilities in Weston Road manufacture savouries, cakes, desserts and ready meals for a number of national customers within food service, retailing and the restaurant sector.
The company is looking to recruit a team of around six chefs who can ensure that the high quality cooking skills used to prepare a fresh menu item for a relatively small group of people can be transferred to mass market production with Wrights planning to continually increase the number of ready meals manufactured daily.
All the chefs will be given extensive training so they understand the food science and technical requirements for capturing the flavour in meals that are freshly produced and then frozen before being distributed to customers.
Sue Gwilliam, head of development at Wrights, said: “It is a step up for any chef who is used to working in a restaurant as they will need to be able to effectively freeze in time the quality of the products they produce.
“The role involves working in our test kitchens, but the new chef recruits will also spend time on the production line where they will be able to ensure the meals they have created taste exactly the same regardless of the quantities involved.”
