Worcestershire hair salon celebrates quarter of a century…

Submitted by on January 8, 2020 – 7:00 am |

Nick and Allison Ford with the Abacus team in BewdleyA family-owned county hair salon has celebrated its 25 th anniversary and used the
business milestone to introduce a range of sustainable hair and beauty products.

Bewdley’s Abacus Hair, owned by husband and wife team Nick and Allison Ford,
opened in the town in 1994 with the couple going on to employ 13 people and
winning multiple industry awards and plaudits.

In a milestone move to help mark the salon’s 25 th year, Mr and Mrs Ford have also
announced a partnership with Italian sustainable hair product supplier, Davines.

Allison Ford said: “It’s a really special moment for us to reach 25 years in business.
“Everyone knows how difficult it is to run your own business and it takes a huge
amount of commitment and personal sacrifice. However, in the past 25 years we
have grown, moved and upgraded the salon, employed some amazing people, and
hopefully contributed to Bewdley by attracting more people to the town.

“It makes Nick and I really proud when we see how our team has developed and we
still have staff who have been with us from the early days, including our senior stylist
Ade Arnold who has been part of the team for over 20 years.

“It’s extra special and the icing on the cake that in our 25 th year our daughter Georgia
has decided to pursue hairdressing as a career. It’s a brilliant milestone for us and
great that we can keep the business in the family by looking to the next generation.”

The salon, which moved to its current location in 2004, opened in 1994 when John
Major was the country’s Prime Minister. It was also the year when hit US sitcom
Friends launched and little-known Manchester band Oasis released their debut
album, Definitely Maybe.
