Stratford-upon-Avon College praised by FE Commissioner…

Submitted by on November 7, 2014 – 7:00 am |

Stratford-upon-Avon CollegeStratford-upon-Avon College has won praise from the FE Commissioner following an amazing turnaround under its new Principal and Chief Executive, Nicola Mannock.

Stratford-upon-Avon College, along with two other colleges, was reviewed as part of 11 independent inspections undertaken to date.  Dr Collins’ original report questioned Stratford-upon-Avon College’s long term viability as an independent institution.  However, following management restructuring and the appointment of a new board of governors, hope for Stratford-upon-Avon College was restored after Dr Collins and his team recently undertook a follow up review.

Dr Collins, paying tribute to the impressive changes, which have been quickly implemented and lead to major improvements, said: “I’m really pleased to see how much progress has been made through the hard work of the staff and the new governing body.  The College has not only improved on quality, but is well on the way to resolving its financial difficulties. Whilst there is still a lot of work to do, it’s great to be able to report on a success story”.

Ian Robinson, the College’s new Chair of Governors reinforced the positive outcomes by commenting:  “I am delighted to receive David Collins’ comments. David’s  very recent visit follows a busy few months putting a new Governing Body into place and a huge amount of hard work by Nicola Mannock as Principal and Chief Executive and all of her managers and staff, to implement a range of impactful and necessary improvements. Neither Nicola nor I believe in only being satisfactory and so our journey continues towards good and outstanding. Only then will we be completely satisfied.”

Commenting on the outcome of the FE Commissioner’s visit Nicola said:  “I can’t thank the team of advisers enough for their fair and transparent approach to monitoring the college.   I am absolutely thrilled that the staff, who have worked tirelessly to implement the recommendations, have now seen the fruits of their labour.  We are now in a very strong position to all move forward together as a college with a new, prosperous and exciting future ahead for both students and staff”.
