Scrivens raises eye-opening amount for alzheimer’s…
Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care is celebrating after raising more than £113,000 for chosen charity Alzheimer’s Society.
It passed the six-figure milestone following a five-year partnership and will continue its support in 2020 with 180 branches nationwide raising awareness and funds for the cause.
In the last 12 months colleagues and customers took the charity to their hearts to donate more than £20,000 to Alzheimer’s Society. It inspired fancy dress fun, book and bake sales and personal sponsored challenges ranging from skydives and marathon treks to 100-mile cycle rides.
Children also contributed by entering colouring and design competitions. For November’s Hearing Awareness Month the company donated £1 for every customer who had their hearing tested.
Scrivens chose Alzheimer’s Society as its primary charity partner because of the link between hearing loss and dementia.
Chairman, Nicholas Georgevic said: “We’re delighted and proud that our partnership with Alzheimer’s Society has raised more than £113,000. We want to thank everyone for getting behind the cause so wholeheartedly.
“There’s no doubt that the need for care and support for those living with Alzheimer’s is growing. It affects more and more people in the communities we serve. I know our staff are determined to continue raising more funds and awareness in the year ahead.”
Hayley Woodyatt, Senior Regional Corporate Partnerships Executive for Alzheimer’s Society said “We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and dedicated support we have received from Scrivens. Their incredible achievements over the last 5 years in raising a significant amount of money are a testament to all their staff and colleagues.
“We are really pleased to have the opportunity to continue this partnership as their commitment to both fundraise and raise awareness will really help to create a more positive future for people affected by dementia.”
Alzheimer’s Society is the leading support and research charity in the UK for people with dementia and those who care for them. More than 520,000 people in the UK have dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease and this figure is set to rise.
