Real Estate. Real Success…

Submitted by on January 23, 2015 – 7:15 am |

Emma Shipp, Managing Partner at SGH MartineauThe Real Estate team of leading law firm SGH Martineau has been singled out for praise by senior management, following a stellar performance in 2014. The team has surpassed its target for the year by 12%, continuing the trend of double-digit improvement against target for the last three years, now contributing almost 30% to the firm’s overall revenues.

The resurgence of the UK economy and implementation of the firm’s strategic growth plan, which focusses on key sectors have combined to help the team’s strong performance. The team has a proven track record in delivering property transaction work, along with targeting the property needs of clients in specific sectors.

It is this focus that has delivered success according to Managing Partner Emma Shipp: “By working in this more targeted way, we are able to deliver practical solutions to clients, based on our experience of the sector specific issues they face – this ensures clients are not paying for the time it takes our lawyers to come up to speed with these sector specific issues, just the advice they seek.

“Importantly, by spending more time working with clients of other teams within the firm, rather than duplicating business development efforts, we can concentrate on building a better understanding of our clients businesses. This has allowed us to adopt a more collaborative approach and become pro-active opportunity developers, rather than just reactive problem solvers for our clients.

“The firm as a whole, but the Real Estate team in particular, is now focussed on the process of delivery ensuring it is continually improved and remains efficient.

“It is far less about partner-led teams, with high profile individuals and more about connecting at the most appropriate level with each client, providing the right lawyer for the right job and developing the talent within the firm to meet our expectations and exceed those of our clients.

“This approach ensures that the team continues to perform well and deliver results for our clients. By spreading the connections throughout every level of the firm, we limit the role of any one individual – it is our approach that delivers success; we have a very strong team.”

The firm’s strategic plan has seen the Real Estate team involved in many high profile projects for clients across key sectors including: Islamic Bank of Britain, Amsprop, Opus Land, Starbucks, Kier Group, Galliford Try, University of Warwick and London & Regional Properties.

The firm has a strong presence in the Education sector, which is undergoing a period of unprecedented regeneration and development, with a large number of capital projects in the pipeline, the Real Estate team at SGH Martineau is expecting another outstanding performance in 2015.
