Quiss Technology helps Independent Software Vendors reach the Cloud…

Submitted by on July 7, 2014 – 7:00 am |

Matt Rhodes, Commercial Services Manager at Quiss TechnologyFor many independent software vendors (ISV), transitioning from the traditional delivery of software on disks or downloads to a more attractive cloud-based solution can be both time-consuming and expensive, often requiring a complete re-working of their software.

Quiss Technology, a leading independent hosting and managed IT services provider, has developed a unique offering that delivers a fast, practical and less expensive route to market, requiring little in the way of re-development work on the part of the ISV.

One such firm benefitting from this innovative approach is Prestwood Software Ltd., a business renowned for pioneering lifelong cash-flow modelling software, developed for financial planners by financial planners.

Commercial Services Manager at Quiss, Matt Rhodes explains: “Quiss has worked closely with Prestwood to realise the transition of their software to a Cloud-based solution from the more traditional approach which required their clients to install the software on-premise, for each required device.

“Their software is now hosted and managed in our Tamworth hosting centre, which ensures we are able to deliver a more robust and secure infrastructure, with our ISO 27001:2013 accreditation standing testament to the importance we place on data security and confidentiality.

“This switch from on-premise software to a Cloud-based application often requires the ISV to spend time and money completely re-working their software for the new hosted environment. But our experience of working with ISV of many years allowed us to develop this innovative approach, which offers increased flexibility for Prestwood and their clients, who will notice no change in the application environment or user experience when using the new system.

“Prestwood, is just one of growing number of ISV looking to take advantage of the flexibility and availability offered by the Quiss Cloud. In particular our ability to quickly and easily make available a virtual platform environment for each client that holds their data and theirs alone.”

Managing Director of Prestwood Software Ltd, Ritchie Walton, commented: “Moving to the Cloud is an important step in our growth strategy and has perhaps come to fruition quicker than expected, thanks to the innovative approach to hosting offered by Quiss. Quiss helped us with every stage of the process and ensured it was a quick and simple process.

“Our sector leading offering helps 1700 of our users to help show their clients a more accurate picture of their financial future, based on our unique lifelong cash-flow modelling software. These Users of Truth® and Prestwood® Professional can now access it any time they have an internet connection, from any device including iPads, Macs, PCs, iPhones, Androids, Kindles, tablets and more.

“We expect this improved user experience to attract many more users, as our approach makes it easier for financial planners to offer their clients a sector-defining service, supported by Cloud-based applications like our own.

“The development of our software is driven by feedback from users and by switching to a hosted solution any updates and improvements we make can be rolled out more quickly and more easily. A simple upload to the Quiss platform, makes all the necessary changes for every user, without them lifting a mouse.”

Rhodes continues: “We expect to help many other ISVs make the move to the Cloud with a raft of different offerings available, each designed to address a different set of unique needs, mixing public, hybrid and private hosting solutions.

“This is a particularly fluid environment at the moment, given the uncertainty surrounding ownership of the data within hosting centres if anything happens to the service provider or its investors. Any business handling confidential or sensitive data that remains nervous about switching to a Cloud-based solution should seek a hosting centre operated by fully independent, UK-owned businesses, with a sound financial foundation; something like the Quiss Cloud in Tamworth.”
