Millennium Point chief executive, Philip Singleton, sets his sights on new opportunities…

Submitted by on October 2, 2015 – 7:30 am |

Philip SingletonPhilip Singleton, chief executive at Millennium Point Trust and Millennium Point Property Ltd has announced that he will be leaving the organisation at the end of October.

Judith Armstrong, chief operating officer, will fill the position from November until a formal appointment is made.

Philip joined Millennium Point in March 2012.  He has worked primarily in Birmingham since arriving in 1990 and has fulfilled key roles in the private and public sectors.

Philip commented, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Millennium Point, which has been focused around transforming and developing the organisation. From the launch of our new brand to our increased liveliness as a host venue for a huge range of activities, we’ve intensified the use of our spectacular spaces to host large scale public events.  What has been particularly rewarding is the collaboration with arts and cultural organisations, repositioning Millennium Point as a recognised institution in Birmingham.

“The continued efficiency and profitability of Millennium Point Property Ltd has enabled both our executive team and Boards to innovate and deliver efficient building management to our partners, and our healthy surplus has resulted in grants for Birmingham City University and Thinktank Science Museum.

“I’m especially proud of Millennium Point Trust’s initiation and support for the Young Innovator Prize, launched last year, which provides a fully funded undergraduate degree course at BCU in a science, technology or engineering related subject.

“Over the last year we’ve instigated several projects that will position Millennium Point as a destination for science, learning and technology for many years to come and put the building and organisation in a very good place for future developments. After three and a half years at the helm the time is right for me to move on to realise new opportunities and I wish the Boards and the entire team at Millennium Point all the very best for the future.”

Simon Topman, Chairman of Millennium Point Trust Board said, “Philip’s arrival at Millennium Point was the beginning of a new era for us. Under his leadership new directions were found and the Trust’s activities dramatically changed; all in the pursuit of our charitable goals. His pioneering work with a host of new partners has seen the whole place reinvigorated. He has made it exciting, always busy with innovative activity that has positioned Millennium Point as Eastside’s catalyst for the advancement of the entire area. He has built a great team to achieve all this and they will continue to deliver.

“Philip has left many legacies, all important to our future, most importantly a commercial drive to generate new and greater revenue streams to enable the charity to grow and achieve more.

“I know I speak for everyone on our Board when I say that we will miss him, we are grateful for his hard work, tremendous creativity and administrative skills. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
