Alvechurch U15 Ladies football team is celebrating finding a new top sponsor in community-minded law firm Clarke Willmott LLP.

The team were runners up in the 2018/19 Central Warwickshire U14s league, winners of the Open Cup and finalists in the Aces National Tournament, and are so far undefeated in both League and Cup this season.

Team manager, Scott Wilkinson, said: “This talented group of girls work so hard and have had a great start to the season – their togetherness and team spirit is really inspiring.

“They are totally passionate about football, and we fully expect a large number of them to develop into the senior professional game, so we really appreciate the support we get from our sponsors which helps us to keep moving forward.”

Jonathan Morton, Chairman of Clarke Willmott, said: “We’re keen to support local sports-based charities that provide youngsters with a healthy outlet for their energies, and that’s especially important when resources for young people are limited and under pressure.

“We see sports as a natural means for children to develop interests, friendships, discipline, commitment and motivation, and are delighted to assist this very talented group of young ladies who look as if they’re seeking to emulate the success of those amazing Lionesses.

Clarke Willmott’s Birmingham office has a track record of supporting local teams and sports-based charities, including Geoff Horsfield and Sport 4 life, citing as their motivation sport’s proven link to mental health and happiness and its role as an outlet for decreasing mental health problems and anxiety in young people.

Research shows regular participation in sports benefits children in many of the same ways it benefits adults – improving mood, concentration and sleeping habits, reducing stress and depression, helping maintain a healthy weight, boosting self-confidence and building leadership skills.

There is also evidence that children who start participating in sports at a young age are more likely to stay active as they grow older, and that participating in a team sport improves academic performance and results in more after-school participation.

Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with seven offices across the country including Birmingham.
