Law firm sponsors charity banger rally fundraiser…

Submitted by on June 14, 2013 – 9:57 am |

Ian Naylor - Bowcock & Pursaill - Law firm sponsors charity banger rally fundraiserLAW firm Bowcock & Pursaill have sponsored a charity challenge to help raise £5000 for the Love4Leah campaign.

Leah Powell, from Leek, has a rare tissue cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Manchester Children’s Hospital. The 13-year-old has inspired two local men, Jayson Hodgkinson and Andy Buxton, to undertake the Monte Carlo or Bust, a European banger rally challenge that takes place next month.

Money raised from the challenge will be donated to the Donna Louise Hospice, on behalf of the Love4Leah campaign. Ian Naylor, a partner at Bowcock & Pursaill based at their Leek office, said: “We were more than happy to get involved and sponsor the challenge. It’s a worth-while cause and we’re delighted to do our bit in making it happen.”

The rules of the three-day adventure state that the car must be purchased for no more than £250. Thanks to sponsorship from local businesses, including Bowcock & Pursaill, Jayson and Andy were able to buy a Nissan Primera from Leek’s Stanic Motor Company.

The pair depart from Leek on Thursday 11th July, where they travel to Folkestone and take the Eurostar to Calais. Following the 110 mile trip to Saint-Quentin, they will take up their position for the start of the challenge.

“It’s not a race, it’s more like a Top Gear challenge,” explained fundraiser and co-driver Jayson Hodgkinson, from Leek.

“We’ll travel from Leek to Monte Carlo via France, the Swiss Alps, and Italy, before finishing with a lap of the famous Monte Carlo Grand Prix circuit, completing various challenges on the way.

“The purpose of the adventure is to raise money for the Love4Leah campaign; both my daughter and Andy’s daughter go to school with Leah, at St Edwards Junior High School in Leek, so it’s a cause that’s close to our hearts.”

The eye-catching, bright yellow car has been decorated with the logos of local business that have sponsored the charity challenge. The Bowcock & Pursaill logo will be added to the car next week, ahead of its departure early July.
