Inaugural Leicester Business Festival Begins…
The inaugural Leicester Business Festival officially began this morning, 26th October, with an exclusive breakfast launch at the Curve, Leicester.
With business people from across Leicestershire in attendance, key note speeches from special guests, including the City Mayor and the Minister for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise, as well as a surprise announcement, the breakfast marks the start of 84 business-led events taking place across the county until the 6th November!
From today, Leicestershire will witness over 6,000 people attend an intensive two weeks of events, from technology masterclasses, infrastructure supply chain opportunities and economic debates to start-up business advice and digital marketing workshops. As Leicester is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the UK, the festival has been created to showcase all the best that Leicester has to offer in business.
The Midlands is seeing 40% more growth than anywhere else in the country at present, and as Leicester plays host to the largest economy in the East Midlands, the business sectors in the region are worth a staggering 19.4bn. With 33,000 businesses, 435,000 employees, easy commutable links across to the rest of the UK and a population of over 1 million spread across the city, it is the perfect area for business to thrive.
Led by the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), in partnership with Champions (UK) plc, the festival is already such a success that next year’s festival dates (24th October – 4th November 2016) were announced at this morning’s breakfast launch.
City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby, who spoke this morning said of the new festival: “The Leicester Business Festival provides a real chance to promote the potential of both our city and our county, by sending out a message to the rest of the country and, indeed, to the rest of the world, that Leicester is open for business.”
With a multitude of great companies supporting the Festival, including Headline Sponsor the University of Leicester, Affiliate Partners Aon, Santander, AXA PPP and Mattioli Woods, as well as extensive media coverage planned on social media, through media partners Leicester Mercury and Smooth Radio, the stage is set for what will be a ground-breaking occasion for the county.
The Leicester Business Festival started this morning, 26th October up until 6th November with a host of events catering to all the major sectors the region has to offer.
Most events are free to attend, and are all listed on the website at www.leicesterbusinessfestival.com.
