HSBC comment on West Midlands trade statistics…
Customs has published Regional Trade Statistics for Quarter One 2015
Commenting on the West Midlands regional trade statistics, Gary Burton, HSBC’s Regional Director of Corporate Banking for the Midlands, said:
“It’s great to see West Midlands exporters buck the trend and increase the value of exports in the year ending March 2015 – one of only three English regions to do so. The region now accounts for the greatest share of exports outside of London and the South East.
“HSBC’s 2015 Trade Forecast provides further good news, with the share of UK exports to China, the region’s leading export partner, expected to double over the next 15 years. With strong trade links with the United States, international trade agreements such as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership could have a major catalytic effect on trade in the region if ratified.
“My team continue to see a strong flow of enquiries from customers looking to expand into overseas markets. As one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, HSBC is well placed to help customers take full advantage of the opportunities that expanding into new markets presents.”
