Higgs football tournament tops fundraising goal…
The much-anticipated day was hailed a huge success and raised an incredible £12,000 for the organisations being supported through the Higgs Charitable Foundation including Higgs’ charity of the year WINGS of Wombourne Special Needs Support Group.
The popular event saw 48 six-a-side teams battle it out for the title, with the team from Hexagon Commercial Property taking home the trophy after beating Butcher Woods in the final. Lambert Hampton Smith took the third place slot.
Richard Griffiths, partner at Higgs & Sons and one of the organisers, said: “Despite a rather rainy start, the annual Higgs & Sons charity football tournament was a huge success.
“It’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by people who are pulling together to raise as much money as possible for a good cause, while having some fun and channelling competitiveness on the pitch.
“WINGS is a small charity doing a big job: the support they provide to children is amazing while the respite they offer families is invaluable.
“So many teams return year on year, alongside several new faces. It really is a testament to the quality of the event.”
The annual tournament is one of the headline events that Higgs & Sons organises in support of its designated chosen charities. This year the tournament was supported by sponsors Ortus Group, Cue Media, CK Charted Accountants and Succession Wealth.
Higgs & Sons’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme supports a range of projects throughout the region. As well as fundraising, Higgs colleagues also provide hands on support to organisations, committing time and resources in support of the work they do within the Black Country and wider West Midlands.
“The firm does so much to support charities through the Higgs Charitable Foundation,” said Tim Jones, head of Higgs’ CSR programme.
“The annual six-a-side tournament is one of several keynote events we hold each year which help to raise much needed funds for a range of good causes. The support we receive is fantastic and we’d like to thank everyone who came along to help make the event so special.”
