Direct365 launches eco campaign to encourage businesses to go green…

Submitted by on July 15, 2015 – 6:20 am |

Direct365 logoFacilities and waste management specialist, Direct365, is urging businesses all over the UK to become more eco-friendly as part of a new campaign titled ‘Green365: Growing Greener Business’.

The eco-led campaign challenges businesses from all different industries and sectors to become more environmentally-efficient for one year. Businesses can achieve this through a number of different measures, including monitoring their energy consumption, making changes to their waste disposal practises, and educating their employees.

Using the hashtag #Green365, businesses of different sizes are welcome to take part in the campaign in any way that they can. People often look towards large corporations such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Apple when they think of CSR policies, but there is no reason why even the smallest of companies can’t be just as environmentally-conscious as larger businesses. Whether you have 2,000 members of staff or just two, there are always measures that can be implemented to become more environmentally-efficient.

Direct365 will also be conducting their own research into issues that surround eco-friendliness and facilities in the workplace. These surveys will touch on key topics including energy efficiency, hygiene and waste management, in an attempt to uncover solutions and discuss how businesses and consumers really feel about these issues.

This campaign is ultimately aimed at helping the UK reach its ambitious carbon reduction targets. Through the 2008 Climate Change Act, the government has pledged to slash the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050 (based on levels set in 1990). If this target is to be met, everyone will need to do their bit.

Sam Tinsley, General Manager for Direct365, commented on the launch of the Green365: Growing Greener Business campaign: “The pressure for businesses to tighten up their CSR policies is increasing, but many aren’t aware that even small changes can significantly reduce their carbon footprint. Throughout the Growing Greener Business campaign, we will be encouraging businesses to think greener for a year in the hope that it will encourage them to adopt an eco-friendly attitude throughout not just the campaign, but for the future.”

Many people don’t realise that even minute changes to the way that you operate your business can equate to significant reductions in energy consumption in the long term. With increasing carbon emissions and overflowing landfill sites, the fight for energy efficiency is crucial if we are going to reduce the impact we have on the environment.
