Dental implants are on the increase at top Midlands practice…

Submitted by on July 30, 2014 – 6:40 am |

Mark Emms, Principal Dentist at The Priors Dental PracticeMissing or failing teeth mean that more and more people are turning to dental implants, according to a Staffordshire dental practice, which attracts patients from across the world.

The Priors Dental Practice in Pinfold Lane, Penkridge, has seen demand for dental implants rise by 40% in recent years, as people from the age of 18 to 89 travel to them from as far away as Hong Kong, New Zealand and Majorca, as well as being referred to them from dentists across the UK.

Mark Emms is Principal Dentist at the family-run, private practice in Staffordshire. He explains: “We always work with our clients on a long-term care plan which focuses as much on preventing decay and restoring damage to existing teeth, as it does on straightening, whitening or replacing them when the time comes. However, we are seeing a number of patients working with us to actively plan how they are going to invest in replacing any failing teeth with fixed implants as they head towards the future.”

Explaining the treatment, Mark comments: “Dental implants are an increasingly popular investment as an alternative to the false teeth that many of us are familiar with seeing. They are permanent teeth which are individually constructed and fixed into the mouth, preventing the bone and jaw structure from diminishing. Implants can be done individually, as part of a plan to stabilise dentures, or to replace multiple teeth to improve confidence and nutrition.”

According to statistics from the Adult Dental Health Survey, the average number of teeth for an adult is 25.6. 14% of the UK population have 20 or fewer teeth, which can severely affect speech, quality of life, self-esteem, relationships and even employment, as well as placing restrictions on nutrition and food intake.

The Priors Dental Practice was recently named as the Best Dental Practice in the Midlands and the Best Orthodontic Practice in the UK. Equipped with the latest technology in dentistry and state-of-the-art surgeries, this ever expanding specialist practice regularly receives private patient referrals from dentists worldwide.

The practice specialises in complex restorative dentistry, particularly with those also involving an orthodontic element. Dental implants start from £2,500 per tooth including restoration. Visit www.thepriorsdentalpractice.co.uk or call 01785 712388 for further information.
