Multi-award winning Birmingham coffee machine manufacturer and third generation family business, Fracino, is fuelling the pipeline of future talent with its people-focused approach.

Quality assurance manager, Daniel O’Donnell, has graduated with a work-based BEng in Professional Engineering from Aston University after Fracino supported his studies.

The degree has boosted Daniel’s skills and brought wide-ranging benefits to the UK’s only manufacturer of espresso and cappuccino machines.

They include software enhancements, an analysis of manufacturing processes to eliminate waste and improve processes – and further ramping up quality assurance from  ISO9001:2008 to the latest ISO9001:2015 certification.

Daniel joined Fracino three years ago, after he and managing director, Adrian Maxwell, appeared on a radio programme to comment on the Budget. In a first for the Fracino team, he will now apply to become an incorporated engineer which demonstrates that his skills meet or exceed an international standard.

He said: “I had gained a foundation degree when I joined the company as a trainee engineer and bachelor’s qualification was the natural next step on the career path. I really appreciate the support, mentoring and development from Adrian and Fracino along with the fantastic opportunity to fulfil my potential with a manufacturer and exporter which is highly respected in the UK and overseas.”

Adrian Maxwell said: “Our ethos and strategy is to continue to invest in tomorrow’s talent by recruiting and retaining great people with a ‘can do’ attitude – helping them to upskill and acquire qualifications for career progression. Daniel’s assignments in the workplace have already brought us great efficiencies, reducing costs and lifting productivity.”
