Baker Tilly’s Martin Rodgers (left) with Mint Velvet co-founders Liz Houghton and Stuart Grant.Sir Richard Branson and Baker Tilly’s Chairman Martin Rodgers presented fashion retailer Mint Velvet with the Best Management Team award at the Fast Track 100 awards this week. The award was sponsored by Baker Tilly.

Mint Velvet was established five years ago and designs and sells womenswear through more than 100 shops across the UK, as well as via department store concessions and online. All its clothes are designed by an in-house team, and the business is aimed at women aged between 30-45.

The Fast Track 100 ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing sales over their latest three years. The league table is published in the Sunday Times, and has become the UK’s barometer for privately owned companies.

Martin Rodgers, Baker Tilly’s Chairman, said, ‘I’m delighted that we have been able to recognise the hard work and ambition that has made Mint Velvet the success story it is today. In a relatively short space of time the company has strengthened and expanded its offering to the market, and this is testament to its management team which, as a result of their well-rounded skills and experience, has demonstrated real strength in leadership.

‘Entrepreneurs and small business owners are the lifeblood of the UK, providing a much-needed boost to the economy through the creation of jobs and wealth. We recognise the important work they do, and are delighted to support and encourage them at every step of their journey.’
