£3000 raised as Hoar Cross Nursing Home celebrates the summer in style…
The event, which has been running since 2003, attracted more than 420 people and raised nearly £3000 towards essential equipment and future activities and trips out.
Visitors examined a fine collection of vintage cars (including an Austin 7 and 1911 Maxwell with wooden wheels) and old fire engines, whilst purchasing local arts and crafts products sold on the stalls that were spread out across the landscaped gardens.
Experts from Hoar Cross Hall and Spa joined in the fun to give residents ‘special pampering treatments’, with the more adventurous being put through their paces with a number of exercise routines.
Kathy Cleaver, General Manager RGN, was delighted with the turnout: “We wanted to do something special to celebrate the 10th Summer Fayre and we’ve definitely achieved that with a record breaking £3000 raised on the day.
“There was so much going on, from the bouncy castle for the children to the cake stalls, BBQ and the fantastic vintage cars that caused quite a stir and proved great for photographs.”
She continued: “The Heart of Oak Morris Dancers and Uttoxeter Brass Band were also tremendous and provided a great musical backdrop for the entire afternoon.”
Organised by the Hoar Cross Nursing Home League of Friends, the Summer Fayre was attended by special guest Cllr Michael Rodgers, the Mayor of East Staffordshire.
He added his support: “The Hoar Cross Nursing Home provides a valuable service and I’m happy to support an event, which will further improve the quality of life for residents. With all the activities taking place, this year’s Fayre made for a really great day out, raising important funds for a good cause in the process.”
Hoar Cross Nursing Home, which is rated excellent by the Care Quality Commission, is set within two acres of landscaped grounds in rural East Staffordshire.
Its team of professionals provides outstanding care for the elderly, disabled people, residents suffering from dementia and those in need of respite and palliative care.
